Employees engaged in the roofing work were using chemicals such as fuels and nail glue,  which can have adverse health effects such as skin and eye irritation as well as possible organ damage.  The employer did not develop, implement, and/or maintain at the workplace a written hazard communication program.

29 CFR  1926.102(a)(1):The employer did not ensure that each affected employee used appropriate eye or face protection when exposed to eye or face hazards from flying particles.  At a residential worksite located at 1055 Fiord Street, Lot 200, Lee's Summit, MO: On or about 04/08/25, employees engaged in roofing activities using hammers, staplers, and pneumatic nail guns were not wearing eye protection. This exposed employees to struck-by hazards, in which particles, debris, and nails could get in their eyes.  Instances of exposure include but are not limited to:  1.  One employee was exposed to struck-by hazards, in which particles, debris, and nails could get in their eyes, while working on the top level of the structure, on the north side of the house.   2.  One employee was exposed to struck-by hazards, in which particles, debris, and nails could get in their eyes, while working on the top level of the structure, on the south side of the house.   M&A Roofing KC LLC., was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 1926.102(a)(1), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1542911, citation number 1, item number 1, and was affirmed as a final order on 01/13/2022, with respect to a workplace located at 5423 N Platte Purchase Dr, Kansas City, MO 64151.
