29 CFR 1926.501(b)(1): Each employee on a walking/working surface with an unprotected side or edge which was 6 feet (1.8 m) or more above a lower level was not protected from falling by the use of guardrail systems, safety net systems, or personal fall arrest systems. a) 541 Gateway Avenue Chambersburg, PA - On or about May 19, 2025, employees erected parapet walls from the roof of a new construction restaurant without a fall protection system, exposing employees to a fall of approximately 17 feet. Abatement certification and documentation required within 10 days after abatement date. The certification shall include a statement that abatement is complete, the date and method of abatement, and state that employees and their representatives were informed of this abatement. Abatement documentation shall include documents demonstrating that abatement is complete, such as evidence of the purchase or repair of equipment, photographic or video evidence of abatement or other written records.

29 CFR 1926.1053(b)(1): Where portable ladders were used for access to an upper landing surface and the ladder's length allows, the ladder side rails did not extend at least 3 feet (.9 m) above the upper landing surface being accessed: a) 541 Gateway Avenue Chambersburg, PA - On or about May 19, 2025, On or about May 19, 2025, employees performing commercial construction carpentry work were exposed to a fall hazard of approximately 17 feet to the grade below due to the ladder not being extended 3 feet above the landing. Additionally, the ladder was not secured to a rigid support, and there was no grasping device. Corrected during the inspection, no abatement certification or documentation required.
