29 CFR 1926.1053(b)(1): Where (a) portable ladder(s) was/were used for access to an upper level landing surface and the ladder's length did not allow the ladder side rails to extend at least 3 feet (0.9 m) above the upper landing surface being accessed, the ladder was not secured at its top to a rigid support that will not deflect, and/or a grasping device was not provided to assist employees in mounting and dismounting the ladder. (a) On August 25, 2025, employees were exposed to falls of approximately 8.5 feet when using a ladder to perform roofing activities. The ladder extended 2 feet past the landing surface.

Cano Roofing, Inc. DBA Signature Roofing was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard, which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1646185, citation number 1, item number 1, and was affirmed as a final order on 01/25/2024, with respect to a workplace located at Hazelwood Village Subdivision Fourplex No. 19, Building 7, Lot 54, Block 2, Lavonne Ln., Boise, ID 83709.
