29 CFR  1926.501(b)(1):"Unprotected sides and edges." Each employee on a walking/working surface (horizontal and vertical surface) with an unprotected side or edge which is 6 feet (1.8 m) or more above a lower level shall be protected from falling by the use of guardrail systems, safety net systems, or personal fall arrest systems.  On or about September 8, 2025, during the rehabilitation of the Doan Brook creek bed at a worksite located near Martin Luther King Jr., Drive and the St Clair Avenue overpass, Cleveland, Ohio, the employer failed to ensure employees were protected from a fall hazard of approximately 7 to 8 feet from a temporary bridge to the creek bed below by a guardrail system, safety net system, or other form of fall protection, when employees used the bridge to cross over the creek.
