29 CFR 1910.252(a)(3)(i):Welding, cutting, or other hot work was performed on used drums, barrels, tanks, or other containers that had not been cleaned so thoroughly as to make absolutely certain there were no flammable materials present or any substances such as greases, tars, acids, or other materials which where subjected to heat, might produce flammable or toxic vapors: a)D & S Welding, LLC located at 48227 249th Street, Sherman, SD 57030: On or about and at times prior to September 15, 2025, the employer did not ensure that barrels being used for scrap bins were thoroughly cleaned prior to an employee using a cutting torch to cut the top off of a 55-gallon barrel which previously contained a Delo ELC Antifreeze/Coolant - Premixed 50/50 mixture. This condition exposed the employee to explosion and burn hazards.
