An employee was troubleshooting a device while utilizing supplied breathing air and with the tank hatch open. As the employee unscrewed the cap to review the device status, a flash fire occurred at the top of the tank. While navigating to the staircase to exit the tank, the employee sustained second-degree burns to the left hand and forearm as well as burns to right hand, right arm, neck, and ear.
