Taking a knee to tape an HFI Coil.

Employee stated that they were taping the end of an HFI coil. Employee stepped back with their right leg and went down on one knee to tape the lower portion of the coil that was pulled for looper lines. When their right knee contacted the concrete floor a bursa sac on the knee ruptured and caused a popping sensation. The knee swelled up and employee reported the incident to the supervisor on shift. Ice was applied to the knee but the swelling persisted. Employee was evaluated at the Emergency Room where it was determined that no ligaments were torn and no bones were broken but that a bursa sac on the knee had ruptured causing the swelling. Employee was given ibuprofen at the ER and was given a note excusing them from work for 4 days initially with instruction to ice and elevate knee. Employee will see an orthopedic doctor for a follow-up.
