Before the incident
The employee was tapping threads to repair a broken mold cylinder on the N1 [REDACTED] bolster in the 1000 Ton area of the facility. While wiping the internal threads with a cloth to remove debris a sliver of metal (4mm in length and 0.1mm in diameter per the x-ray) embedded into the soft tissue on the tip of the employees Left Thumb. The employee reported to his supervisor after the incident and informed him that he would try to remove the sliver himself. On the morning of [REDACTED] the employee reported to his supervisor that he was unable to successfully remove the metal sliver. The employee was sent to Occupational Medicine for evaluation and treatment.
