What happened

This action requires the employee to cut the milled rubber from the rotating Strip Mill with a curved-blade mill knife in their right hand while pulling the cut rubber from the mill and feeding it onto the conveyor with their left hand. The rubber compound 21042 is a described as a sticky rubber due to its higher clay content and adheres more to the mill rolls when being processed. The employee stated that as he was pulling the rubber with his left arm the rubber released from the mill roll and the momentum caused his left arm to make contact with the mill knife in his right hand resulting in a 1cm in length and 0.5cm in depth puncture injury to his lower left forearm near his elbow.
