Unhooking rigging

On [REDACTED] around [REDACTED] a material handler had set the beam down on the paintbay conveyor. The material handler unhooked the chains and began hoisting up the chains with the overhead crane. He was holding chains away from the beam to help keep them from getting caught on the beam however the tip of the closed hook unknowingly caught on the conveyor 's frame. The material handler heard someone yelling in the weld department as he looked up the chain caught tension causing his middle finger to get caught between the chain and beam. Employee was taken to Coosa Valley Emergency where he was told he had an open fracture to his right middle finger. He will follow up with our workers comp doctor. Employees had all required PPE at the time of the incident.
