scanning another patient in NICU

The patient at Methodist West NICU was connected to an oscillator machine with the cords taped to the floor. I told both the nurse and another Methodist employee in the room at that time that I would need to get my machine and myself on the patients left side to perform the echocardiogram. Both the nurse and other employee started to assess the room scenario and I had asked if a piece of equipment could be moved so I could get my machine through. I was told no as it was connected to something else and the chord already stretched as far as it could go. The nurse told me I could scan the patient on the side she was on (patients ' right side) and I reiterated again that I scan with my left hand and therefore need to be on the patients left side. I was told that the oscillator machine couldn 't be moved as well as the height of the bed which was about waist high. I was told I could go through the small holes on the side of the bed since the top and side couldn 't be opened. I told the nurs

Ergonomics-Related Twisting muscle along the left side of my spine and at the time of scanning the back side of my left shoulder.

patients bed and oscillator machine

I had bend down so I could fit my arm through the hole and I ended up standing lop sided as my right arm was lower and scanning through the hole. As my back started to hurt I knelt down to my knees trying to give my shoulder and back a break.
