Before the incident
Pt agitated and CN RN sitter trying to de escalate pt after pt opened locked cabinets and throwing equipment and supplies on floor.
What happened
Patient brought back to room in the morning. Patient was walking around room calmly and allowed me to do my assessment. Patient became restless and agitated and sitter called out for help. Pt had not yet been picked up by provider and a nurse when to look for one to get assistance and PRN meds ordered. Patient managed to stick hands in between locked cabinets and managed to forcefully pry them open and grabbing supplies and equipment and throwing them on the floor. staff assist button pressed and security called. During that time security assisted getting pt in bed CN and myself attempted to get piece of paper out of mouth. Patient kept biting on tongue depressors causing them to break. MD suggested to try suction. CN stuck finger in patient 's mouth and got bit. Patient spit out a few times towards CN. She mentioned it got in her face along another officer.
