Before the incident
I was holding the patient 's hand I regrabbed the patient 's hand so that the scrub tech could move a wire on the field and the end of the metal pins in the patient 's hand struck through both of my gloves.
What happened
I was holding the patient 's hand so the surgeon could finish dressing the surgical site. The scrub tech was removing a drill wire from the field so I re-grabbed the patient 's hand so that he could remove the drill wire from the field. When I re-grabbed the patient 's hand the end of one of the metal pins pierced through both of my gloves of my right hand.
