Before the incident
I was drawing blood from a PIV. I drew a waste syringe from the PIV set it aside and picked up another syringe to collect the lab specimen.
What happened
I tried to screw the syringe to the port and it was alittle askew so in repositioning it and pinched my finger between the syringe and port. It tore my glove and put some pt blood on my hand. I put the blood in the tubes with the transfer device
