Before the incident
I was administering my patient 's schedule subQ heparin injection using a 1cc syringe and 25G needle.
What happened
After I injected my patient I attempted to activate the safety mechanism using my right hand. I lost my grip on the syringe and reflexively tried to catch it puncturing my left palm as a result.
