What happened
An associate was using the drill press to tap holes and noticed that the tap bit was wobbling. While it was still spinning slowly he grabbed the smooth portion of the bit shank to troubleshoot the wobbling. He was wearing gloves and they were caught by the spinning tap which twisted his thumb around the bit. His left thumb was fractured lacerated and the finger nail was pulled off.
