Helping another outfitter wrap and spot a pallet of boxes.

What happened

Outfitter [REDACTED] reported to her supervisor that she had sustained an injury to her hand. Initially the outfitter did not want to report the injury and wished to continue working. We had the outfitter come up to the first aid room and applied a cold pack as the location of the injury on her hand had started to swell significantly. The outfitter was helping a co-worker move a pallet full of boxes (spotting for him). She got her hand pinched in between the pallet and metal trim on a conveyor. There was a visible pinch mark going across the back of the hand a couple of inches long. The back of the hand began to swell. After about 45 minutes in the first aid room with the cold applied the swelling had gone down quite a bit and the outfitter returned to her workstation. The CorVel triage nurse was contacted and recommended self-care with hot and cold compresses and use of OTC pain medication as needed.
