The injured employee was assisting a coworker and holding a backup wrench with his left hand while using his right hand to hold a torque wrench in place.

On [REDACTED] at approximately [REDACTED] while working at the [REDACTED] Facility Nutrients Unit a Turner Industries pipefitter suffered a finger injury requiring more than first aid treatment. The injured employee was working with two Turner Industries craftsmen and a clent craftsman installing the Bell Head on [REDACTED] 2. The crew was utilizing a manual torque wrench and combination wrenches to make the last pass at 420 ft lbs. The bell head has 6878 stud bolts.The torque wrench is a 34 drive and 41 in length. The injured employee was using a [REDACTED] combination wrench as a backup with his left hand while setting the socket on the opposite nut with his right hand. His co worker would then tighten with the torque wrench. During the process the injured employee 's right middle finger became pinched between the socket and the adjacent nut. The employees followed the site reporting protocols.
