The ironworker received the beam as it was being flown into position.

The ironworker signaled the crane to lower the beam which caused the beam to pivot at the connection point on his partner 's side. Once the beam tilted down enough on the ironworker 's side the ironworker thought he could get the beam by the column 's flange but the double angle on the beam got caught on the flange of the column. The ironworker had the operator cable up to raise the beam and that caused it to get in a bind. At this point the ironworker tried using his sleever bar to pry the beam over but could not get the leverage needed to move the beam. The Ironworker switched to a spud wrench and used the pointed end to pry the beam past the flange. The Ironworker worked the beam over and got it out of the bind but when he did the piece drifted down and then back up and that is when his Right wrist hand got caught between the beam and column.
