What happened

I was cleaning up the room after surgery where we did a skin graft for a patient. I was taking apart an instrument called a dermatome. It helps shave skin off for a skin graft. In the center of it is a blade. To take it apart I needed to unscrew the protector for the blade. I was struggling to get it undone because the surgeon over tightened the screws. I asked a coworker [REDACTED] for assistance and he helped me get the screws off. The device is also covered in mineral oil to prevent skin from sticking. The protector for the instrument was stuck and wouldn 't come off. I tried banging the back of a screwdriver to push it off. That did not work. I then tried the corners of the dermatome where the blade is not exposed. It started to come off but somehow the way it came off slide exposing the blade and thus injuring my fingertip slicing half of my nail off and part of the skin.
