Changing Brushes on the DCH [REDACTED]

Maintenance employee was changing out deburr brushes on the DCH cutter. The employee was backing out a bolt that holds the pillow block bearing in place. This bearing has the brush shaft through it and is attached to a belt pully and it has substantial weight to it. When the bolt released the employee had their hand under the pully. This dropped all of the weight onto the employees finger and trapped his finger between the pully and the frame of the machine. When the employee removed their cut resistant gloves he saw that his ring finger on his right hand was cut deep. Employee was taken to Fast Pace where he received 5 stitches and restrictions.
