Cutting out a defect at the mill 9 cutoff
What happened
Mill 9 tube mill operator cut a defect out at the mill cutoff. This resulted in an odd length being created that needed to be straightened. When the mill op went to slide the tube down the trough to the straightener the tube hit something in the trough and bounced back and hit the employee on the wrist and hand causing cuts. The employee was taken to the first aid room to clean and assess the injury. It was initially decided that the cuts were not deep enough to require stitches but one of the cuts continued to bleed so the employee was taken to a clinic. At the clinic the cut was cauterized to stop the bleeding and stitched. The employee was placed on modified duty.
