Teammate was preparing to use a chop saw to make a cut on a lost head piece (small piece of steel) in preparation of start of cast.

Since the teammate was planning on cutting the lost head piece up on its side he needed to raise the blade guard up so that the piece would fit under the blade. The teammate used his left hand to lift the guard and crossed his right arm over his left arm to power on the saw. As the teammate powered the saw on he didn 't realize that his left index finger (that was holding the guard up) was resting against the saw blade.
