Before the incident

The employee while wearing prescription eye wear and face shield was standing approximately 4 feet away from someone that was welding with a large fan directly behind him blowing towards his back. He suddenly felt a sharp pain in his left eye and came directly to management to report the incident and to try to flush his eyes out at the eye wash station in the shop. Upon taking a close look at his affected eye after flushing it out at the eye wash station a tiny white speck can be seen right in the center of his pupil. Eye flushing did not help so the employee was taken for medical evaluation and treatment.
