Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:  The
employer did not
furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to
employees:
a)3K Corporation, San Vicente Commercial Building Project:  The employer
did not ensure
that employees would receive prompt medical treatment during a medical
emergency.
On September 10, 2002, a carpenter on the job site became seriously ill
and was found
unconscious. A significant amount of time elapsed before a call was made
for medical
assistance. The employee later died from his illness; prompt medical
attention may have
prevented the fatality.  Among other feasible and acceptable abatement
methods would
be:
1.Employees must ensure that all employees are aware of and know how to
use 911 and/or
other emergency service contact phone numbers.
2.Employer must inform all employees that they are authorized to call for
medical
assistance in the event of an emergency.
