Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: Large Cleaning Room: The wire rope provided on the 5 ton Rand #1 crane had excessive wear. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is: A.Have a qualified person conduct monthly, documented inspections of the running ropes on all cranes and hoists. B.Have a qualified person conduct annual, documented inspections of all crane and hoist components. C.Take corrective action on all crane and hoist components found to be defective.
