General-duty citation text
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to fire and explosion hazards: Wax Department: Flexible hose was used to connect each burner stack to the gas piping outlet at wax work tables. The hose was damaged from being run through sharp metal cut-outs in the table frame. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct the hazard is to: 1.Inspect all flexible gas hose connections for damage or for installation in a manner that could subject the hose to damage. 2.Replace any damaged and/or improperly installed gas hose in accordance with National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 54 National Fuel Gas Code which requires that all flexible gas connections be protected from physical and thermal damage.
