Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the placement and location of compressed gases near incompatible liquids, gases, and materials: A.United Refining Company, 1916 Pennsylvania Avenue East, Warren, PA 16365, rear of the laboratory, on or about May 10, 2011 and time prior thereto: Flammable liquids, including, but not limited to, toluene, acetone and a reference fuel stored in 55-gallon drums were stored in a shed with an oxygen cylinder. B.United Refining Company, 1916 Pennsylvania Avenue East, Warren, PA 16365, rear of the laboratory, on or about May 10, 2011 and time prior thereto: A full oxygen cylinder was stored in a shed with four hydrogen cylinders. Abatement Note: Among other methods, feasible and acceptable methods to correct the condition include 1. Relocating the oxygen cylinders out of the areas noted above. 2. Complying with methods noted in the NFPA standards and Compressed Gas Association Standards that deal with the segregation of incompatible gases, liquids, and materials.le
