SCRR 71-112A: Failed to furnish a place of employment which is free of
recognized hazards
which may cause death or serious physical harm to his employees and comply
with this
regulation and other occupational safety and health rules and regulations
promulgated under
Chapter 15 of Title 41, Code of Laws, State of South Carolina, 1976, as
amended, as
follows:
A.  Employer knew or should have known that employees working around,
near, or on the
oil recycling vat in the chiller room were exposed to the hazard of severe
burns due to
contact with boiling oil.  A feasible and useful means of abatement, among
others, is to
cover and insulate the vat.
B.  Employer knew or should have known that employees working around or
near the steam
pipes in the boiler room were exposed to the hazard of thermal burns from
the un-insulated
steam pipes on the boiler in the boiler room of the establishment.  A
feasible and useful
means of abatement, among others, is to wrap the steam pipes with heat
insulating
materials.
C.  Employer knew or should have known that employees walking around,
near, or on
vulcanizer pot #9 in the curing room were exposed to the hazard of thermal
burns from the
un-insulated portion at the bottom of the vessel.  A feasible and useful
means of abatement,
among others, is to wrap the bottom of the vessel with heat insulating
materials.
D.  Employer knew or should have known that employees working around,
near, or on
vulcanizer pot #11 in the curing room were exposed to the hazard of
thermal burns from the
un-insulated portion at the bottom of the vessel.  A feasible and useful
means of abatement,
among others, is to wrap the bottom of the vessel with heat insulating
materials.
E.  Employer knew or should have known that employees working around,
near, or on
vulcanizer pot #7 in the curing room were exposed to the hazard of thermal
burns from the
un-insulated portion at the bottom of the vessel.  A feasible and useful
means of abatement,
among others, is to wrap the bottom of the vessel with heat insulating
materials.
F.  Employer knew or should have known that employees working around,
near, or on
vulcanizer pot #2 in the curing room were exposed to the hazard of thermal
burns from the
un-insulated portion at the bottom of the vessel.  A feasible and useful
means of abatement,
among others, is to wrap the bottom of the vessel with heat insulating
materials.
G.  Employer knew or should have known that employees working around,
near, or on
vulcanizer pot #8 in the curing room were exposed to the hazard of thermal
burns from the
un-insulated portion at the bottom of the vessel.  A feasible and useful
means of abatement,

H.  Employer knew or should have known that employees working around,
near, or on
vulcanizer pot #1 in the curing room were exposed to the hazard of thermal
