OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1):  The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which was free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to amputation and laceration hazards.    a) Blanking Department- Metal cutting saws, such as the JET Bandsaw, were not equipped with a mechanism to prevent the machine from automatically restarting upon restoration of power after a power failure.     In accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19(d), abatement certification is required for this violation (using the CERTIFICATION OF CORRECTIVE ACTION WORKSHEET), and in addition, documentation demonstrating that abatement is complete must be included with your certification. 29 CFR 1910.213(b)(3):  On applications where injury to the operator might result if motors were to restart after power failures, provision were not made to prevent the machines from automatically restarting upon restoration of power.    a) Counter Cutting Department- Wood cutting saws, such as the Delta Vertical Bandsaw, were not equipped with a mechanism to prevent the machine from automatically restarting upon restoration of power after a power failure. 29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1):  One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks.     a) Blanking Department- The employer failed to provide one or more methods of machine guarding to protect employees from the point of operation on equipment, such as the unused portion of the metal cutting saw blade on the JET Horizontal Bandsaw.      b) Die Room- The employer failed to provide one or more methods of machine guarding that would protect employees from the point of operation on equipment, such as the Multi Bend System Bender #MB710-B.
