29 CFR 1910.184(c)(9): Employee(s) were not kept clear of load(s) suspended, or about to be lifted by sling(s): a. In the Outlet shop, where pendant controlled cranes were used, that required manual horizontal movement, materials, at least 1300 lbs., were required to be lifted to above a 55" height, employees could not ensure keeping their bodies or other appendages such as feet, from under the load during handling of the materials. Abatement certification and abatement documentation is required for this violation. The documentation should include written verification of abatement, applicable measurements or monitoring results, and photographs or videos which you believe will be helpful. The abatement certification sheet is enclosed with the citation(s).

29 CFR 1910.184(d): Each day before being used, the sling and all fastenings and attachments were not being inspected for damage or defects by a competent person designated by the employer: a. Where inspections were conducted on cranes, slings, and fastenings, there were no objective criteria established for inspecting the teeth wear of lifting clamps and therefore the competency of the inspections could not be established. Abatement certification and abatement documentation is required for this violation. The documentation should include written verification of abatement, applicable measurements or monitoring results, and photographs or videos which you believe will be helpful.
