29 CFR 1926.451(f)(3): Scaffolds and scaffold components shall be inspected for visible defects by a competent person before each work shift, and after any occurrence which could affect a scaffold's structural integrity.    (a)   Left-side Scaffold - On or about August 21, 2014 an employee was exposed to a fall hazard while working on scaffolds that was not inspected prior to use. This scaffold was missing critical components for safety: planks, base-plates, mudsills, cross-braces and guardrails.

29 CFR 1926.451(c)(2): Supported scaffold poles, legs, posts, frames, and uprights shall bear on base plates and mud sills or other adequate firm foundation.    (a)  Left-side Scaffold - On or about August 21, 2014 an employee was exposed to a fall hazard while working on a scaffold that had no mudsills installed. The  base-plates were sitting directly on the ground where it could sink into earth.     (b)  Front Scaffold - On or about August 21, 2014 an employee was exposed to a fall hazard while working on a scaffold that had no base-plates installed. This scaffold was sitting on mudsills with no base-plates to stabilize structure.     Bobby Brown, DBA Brown Masonry was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard 29 CFR 1926.451(c)(2) which was contained in OSHA Inspection Number 940662, Citation Number 2, Item Number 2 and was affirmed as a final order on November 22, 2013 with respect to a workplace located at 113 Edgewood Drive, Madison, MS 39110.

29 CFR 1926.451(g)(1): Each employee on a scaffold more than 10 feet (3.1 m) above a lower level shall be protected from falling to that lower level. Paragraphs (g)(1)(i) through (vii) of this section establish the types of fall protection to be provided to the employees on each type of scaffold. Paragraph (g)(2) of this section addresses fall protection for scaffold erectors and dismantlers.  Note to paragraph (g)(1): The fall protection requirements for employees installing suspension scaffold support systems on floors, roofs, and other elevated surfaces are set forth in subpart M of this part.    (a)  Left-side Scaffold - On or about August 21, 2014 an employee was exposed to a fall hazard while working on a welded metal frame scaffold 16 feet above ground with no guardrails installed. There was a pile of bricks lying directly beneath the scaffold.    Bobby Brown, DBA Brown Masonry was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard 29 CFR 1926.451(g)(1) which was contained in OSHA Inspection Number 940662, Citation Number 2, Item Number 3 and was affirmed as a final order on November 22, 2013 with respect to a workplace located at 113 Edgewood Drive, Madison, MS 39110.

29 CFR 1926.452(c)(2): Frames and panels shall be braced by cross, horizontal, or diagonal braces, or combination thereof, which secure vertical members together laterally. The cross braces shall be of such length as will automatically square and align vertical members so that the erected scaffold is always plumb, level, and square. All brace connections shall be secured.    (a)  Left-side Scaffold - On or about September 21, 2014 an employee was exposed to a fall hazard while working on a scaffold that had no cross-braces installed on the inside face.       Bobby Brown, DBA Brown Masonry was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard 29 CFR 1926.452(c)(2) which was contained in OSHA Inspection Number 940662, Citation Number 2, Item Number 4 and was affirmed as a final order on November 22, 2013 with respect to a workplace located at 113 Edgewood Drive, Madison, MS 39110.
