29 CFR 1926.760(a)(1): Except as provided by paragraph (a)(3) of this section, each employee engaged in a steel erection activity who was on a walking/working surface with an unprotected side or edge more than 15 feet (4.6 m) above a lower level was not protected from fall hazards by guardrail systems, safety net systems, personal fall arrest systems, positioning device systems or fall restraint systems The employer does not protect employees from falling when engaged in a steel erection activity on a walking/working surface with an unprotected side or edge more than 15 feet above a lower level. This violation was observed on or about November 10, 2014, on the south side of a building where an employee was exposed to fall hazards of more than 15 feet above a lower level when performing steel erection activities without a fall protection system. Pursuant to 29 C.F.R. 1903.19, within ten (10) calendar days of the abatement date, the employer must submit documentation showing that it is in compliance with the standard, including describing the steps that it is taking to ensure that employees engaged in steel erection activities more than 15 feet above a lower level are protected from falling by a guardrail system, safety net system, personal fall arrest system, positioning device system or a fall restraint system.
