29 CFR 1910.132(a): Protective equipment was not used when necessary whenever hazards capable of causing injury and impairment were encountered: (a) Pickle room - On or about 8/20/15, an employee's head, arms, legs, and torso were exposed to liquid splashes from 49% hydrofluoric acid, a corrosive liquid with a pH <2, when transferring it from a tote to the sulfuric acid/hydrofluoric acid tank. The employer did not ensure that the employee wore appropriate chemical resistant hooded coveralls. (b) Pickle room - On or about 8/20/15, an employee's feet were exposed to liquid splashes from 49% hydrofluoric acid, a corrosive liquid with a pH <2, when transferring it from a tote to the sulfuric acid/hydrofluoric acid tank. The employer did not ensure that the employee wore appropriate outer chemical resistant booties or boots. ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION REQUIRED
