29 CFR 1910.303(b)(2): Listed or labeled electrical equipment was not used or installed in accordance with instructions included in the listing or labeling: (a) Inspector Office, left side; A portable metal handy box was plugged into a power strip (relocatable power tap) which powered credit card machines. The UL listing states that relocatable power taps are designed to be plugged into an outlet, and not daisy chained and plugged into other relocatable power taps, portable handy boxes or extension cords. This exposes employees to possible electrical fire hazards. (b) Inspector Office, left side; A power strip was plugged into an extension cord because the power cord could not reach the outlet. It was powering Dell computer equipment. The UL listing states that relocatable power taps are designed to be plugged into an outlet, and not daisy chained and plugged into other relocatable power taps or extension cords. This exposes employees to possible electrical fire hazards. (c) Inspector Office, right side; A Hamilton Beach kettle was plugged into a power strip (relocatable power tap). The UL listing states that relocatable power taps are designed for low amperage computer and audiovisual types of equipment, and not appliances. This exposes employees to possible electrical fire hazards. CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION The US Fish and Wildlife Office of Law Enforcement was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard, which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1017841, citation number 2, item number 3 and was affirmed as a final order on March 11, 2015, with respect to a workplace located at Redmond, Washington. The US Fish and Wildlife Office of Law Enforcement was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard, which was contained in OSHA inspection number 108979, citation number 2, item number 1 and was affirmed as a final order on January 11, 2012, with respect to a workplace located at Redmond, Washington.
