29 CFR 1910.94(c)(3)(iii)(a): Overspray filters shall be installed and maintained in accordance with the requirements of 1910.107(b)(5): a) On or about 5/17/16 - Mercedes Spray Line #1, Front booth , an accumulation of residue from the spraying of adhesive was observed in the spray booth. The air velocity over the open face of the booth during spraying operations was less than 100 linear feet per minute. A visible gauge, audible alarm, or pressure activated device was not installed to indicate or insure that the required air velocity was maintained. b) On or about 5/17/16 - Mercedes Spray Line #1, Back booth, an accumulation of residue from the spraying of adhesive was observed in the spray booth. The air velocity over the open face of the booth during spraying operations was less than 100 linear feet per minute. A visible gauge, audible alarm, or pressure activated device was not installed to indicate that the required air velocity was maintained.

29 CFR 1910.94(c)(5)(iii)(b): Exhaust ductwork were not sized in accordance with good design practice which shall include consideration of fan capacity, length of duct, number of turns and elbows, variation in size, volume, and character of materials being exhausted. See American National Standard Z9.2-1960 for further details and explanation concerning elements of design: a) On or about 5/6/16 - Mercedes Spray Line #1, Front booth , spray finishing with adhesive Thermonex 063-05A was being conducted in a Global Finishing spray booth designed to exhaust to the exterior of the facility. The exhaust ductwork to the Global Finishing booth had been disconnected. b) On or about 5/6/16 - Mercedes Spray Line #2, Front booth, spray finishing with adhesive Thermonex 063-05A was being conducted in a Global Finishing spray booth designed to exhaust to the exterior of the facility. The exhaust ductwork to the Global Finishing Booth had been disconnected.

The employees are exposed to contact with components of the adhesive during spray finishing and to solvents such as acetone during clean-up.

29 CFR 1910.1200(h)(3)(iv): The details of the hazard communication program developed by the employer, did not include an explanation of the labels received on shipped containers, the safety data sheet, including the order of information and how employees could obtain and use the appropriate hazard information: a) On or about 5/6/16 - Mercedes Spray Line, the employee training did not include specific information required by the Global Harmonization System. Training should include the standardized information and pictograms on container labels and the 16-section format of Safety Data Sheets (SDS) available for the chemicals used in the workplace.
