29 CFR 1910.1026(c): Employees were exposed to an airborne concentration of chromium (VI) which exceeded 5 micrograms per cubic meter of air, as an 8-hour time-weighted average:    a) In the Cutoff Area, on or about March 15, 2018 - A Burner was exposed to hexavalent chromium at a time weighted average exposure of 6.09 micrograms per cubic meter of air while removing heads and risers from stainless steel alloy castings with an air arc.  This level is 1.22 times the permissible exposure limit of 5 micrograms per cubic meter of air as a time weighted average concentration.  Sampling was performed by an OSHA compliance officer on March 15, 2018 for 190 minutes and zero exposure was assumed for the unsampled portion of the shift.

29 CFR 1910.1026(g)(2): The employer required respirator use for protection against chromium (VI); however, the employer did not institute a respiratory protection program in accordance with the Respiratory Protection standard, 29 CFR 1910.134, which covers each employee required to use a respirator:    a) In the Cutoff Area, on or about March 15, 2018 - The employer failed to institute a respiratory protection program in accordance with the Respiratory Protection Standard. A Burner is required by the employer to wear a supplied air respirator and was exposed to hexavalent chromium above the PEL while removing heads and risers from a stainless steel alloy casting with an air arc.
