29 CFR 1926.453(a)(2): Aerial lifts were "field modified" for uses other than those intended by the manufacturer, the modification had not been certified in writing by the manufacturer or by any other equivalent entity. Modification did not conform with all applicable provisions of ANSI A92.2-1969.    On or about April 24, 2019, an employee modified a JLG 660SJ aerial lift by attaching 1.5"x 7/8"x 1/4" steel chain to the basket and using it as a hoist to raise a steel stud roof section, exposing the employee to the hazards associated with an aerial lift collapse.    Abatement certification is required of this item in accordance with the requirements of 29 CFR 1903.19(c).

RMS Properties, Inc. was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 1926.501(b)(1), which was contained in OSHA inspection number  1358166, citation number 1, item number 1 and was affirmed as a final order on January 23, 2019, with respect to a workplace located at 1400 Algonquin rd. Algonquin, IL 60102.    Abatement documentation is required of this item in accordance with the requirements of 29 CFR 1903.19(d).
