29 CFR 1910.134(g)(1)(i)(A): Respirators with tight-fitting facepieces were worn by employees who had facial hair that came between the sealing surface of the facepiece and the face or that interfered with valve function:  (a) On or about November 18, 2019, an employee preparing castings, used a 3M half face elastomeric respirator while blasting and doing other tasks such as, welding, sanding and grinding.  The employee was not clean shaven affecting the tight fitting seal of the respirator.  This exposed the employee to inhalation of airborne metal dust generated during these operations.  (b) On or about 1/28/2020, an employee preparing castings, used a 3M half face elastomeric respirator while blasting and doing other tasks such as, welding, sanding and grinding.  The employee was not clean shaven affecting the tight fitting seal of the respirator.  This exposed the employee to inhalation of airborne metal dust generated during these operations.
