29 CFR 1910.151(c): Where employees were exposed to injurious corrosive materials, suitable facilities for quick drenching or flushing of the eyes and body were not provided within the work area for immediate emergency use: On or about 1 September 2021, at the Water Treatment Plan, American Yatch Harbor, Saint Thomas, VI. Emergency shower was not available in the immediate area when employees used and/or handled corrosive products such as high content chlorine sanitizer chemical during water treatment operation. NOTE: Certification of abatement must be submitted for this citation item as required by 29 CFR 1903.19(c).

29 CFR 1910.157(c)(1): Portable fire extinguishers were not mounted, located and identified so that they were readily accessible without subjecting the employees to injuries: On or about 1 September 2021, next to corrosive liquids and flammable liquids and materials inside of the maintenance/wood workshop area, American Yatch Harbor, St. Thomas, VI. Employees were exposed to fire hazards while performing water treatment plant operations on an area within the premises of corrosive and flammable liquids and combustible materials next to it with no fire extinguishers available or provided in case of a sudden fire. NOTE: Certification of abatement is not required for this citation item as abatement was documented by the compliance safety and health officer during the inspection.
