29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1):One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks: a. 3451 South Clinton Ave., South Plainfield, NJ - Production Area The employer did not ensure that machines that create hazards created by point of operation and rotating parts were guarded in a manner to prevent those hazards. Employees engaged in plastics manufacturing, operating extrusion line 3, were able to bypass physical guards to realign materials at the Filament Crimper and other sections of the machine and reach into the moving machine and/or open the guard where the guard was not protected by use of an interlock or other means to stop the machine. Violation occurred on or about September 18, 2021 b. 3451 South Clinton Ave., South Plainfield, NJ - Production Area The employer did not ensure that machines that create hazards created by point of operation and rotating parts were guarded in a manner to prevent those hazards.
