29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): Types of guarding. One or more methods of machine guarding shall be provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks. Examples of guarding methods are-barrier guards, two-hand tripping devices, electronic safety devices, etc. On or about February 8, 2022 an employee suffered amputation injury when the employee's right finger came in contact with the tube filler holder of the Mateer-Burt CPI-014 / Model Number 1909 Serial Number 806105. Adequate machine guarding was not provided and employees were exposed to amputation hazards due to the unguarded point of operation. Abatement documentation is required for this item in accordance with the requirements of 29 CFR 1903.19 (d)
