29 CFR 1910.254(d)(9)(iii):Cables with damaged insulation or exposed bare conductors were not replaced. The connecting means did not have insulation adequate for the service conditions. Welding booths: On or about July 14, 2022, employees were exposed to shock and electrocution hazards due to welding cables being damaged and not replaced. Employees are required to perform metal inert gas (MIG) welding on low carbon steel. The employer did not replace the damaged cables and instead added electrical tape over the damaged areas at the following locations: a) WG Welding Aluminum Boxes line 1 b) WG Welding Aluminum Boxes line 2 c) WG Welding Aluminum Boxes line 3 d) WG Welding Aluminum Boxes line 5 e) C04 Location 1-6 f) C03C g) C03D h) KN Welding Storage Master Line 2 Abatement documentation is required for this item in accordance with the requirements of 29 CFR 1903.19(d).
