29 CFR 1910.265(c)(20)(vi): Hand removal of refuse. Provision for the daily removal of refuse shall be made in all operations not required to have an exhaust system or having refuse too heavy, bulky, or otherwise unsuitable to be handled by the exhaust system. (a) On or about October 18, 2022, waste sawdust was piled up under machines and on the floor of the saw mill up to 11 inches deep. (b) On or about October 18, 2022, waste sawdust had accumulated on the electrical panels that served 95 % of the facility and were accessed daily by maintenance employees. The panels included the main panel and the panels that supplied power to the debarker, the dust collection system, the air system, Line 1, Line 2, the conveyor, and the chipper, and were located along the outer wall near line 3 at greater that 1/32 of an inch.

(a) On or about October 18, 2022, the employer did not ensure that all unused openings in electrical boxes in the electrical panels that served 95 % of the facility and were accessed daily by maintenance employees were effectively closed. The panels included the main panel and the panels that supplied power to the debarker (480 V), the dust collection system (240 V), the air system (480 V), Line 3 (480 V), Line 2 (480 V), the conveyor (240 V), and the chipper (480 V), and were located along the outer wall near line 3.
