29 CFR 1910.133(a)(1):The employer did not ensure that each affected employee uses appropriate eye or face protection when exposed to eye or face hazards from flying particles, molten metal, liquid chemicals, acids or caustic liquids, chemical gases or vapors, or potentially injurious light radiation: a.) Clearfield Leather dba Wicket & Craig of America, Inc., Beam house area, on or about March 29th, 2023 and times prior thereto: Employees worked with and around corrosive chemicals including, but not limited to, sodium hydrosulfide and sulfuric acid during chemical additions associated with the tanning process. Employees did not utilize chemical goggles and face shield while performing work operations with corrosive chemicals. ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION REQUIRED: Abatement certification is required within 10 days after the abatement date noted on the citation (see below). This certification shall include a statement that abatement is complete, the date abatement was completed, method of abatement, and state that employees and their representatives were informed of this abatement.

29 CFR 1910.132(d)(1)(i): When the employer had assessed the workplace hazard(s) and determined that hazard(s) were present, the employer did not select and/or use the types of personal protective equipment that would protect the affected employee from the hazards identified in the hazard assessment: a.) Clearfield Leather dba Wicket & Craig of America, Inc., Beam house area, on or about March 29th, 2023 and times prior thereto: Employees worked with and around corrosive chemicals including, but not limited to, sodium hydrosulfide and sulfuric acid during chemical additions associated with the tanning process. The employers hazard assessment did not require employees to utilize chemical goggles and face shield while performing work operations with corrosive chemicals. 29 CFR 1910.176(b):Storage of material created a hazard: a.) Clearfield Leather dba Wicket & Craig of America, Inc., Beam house-Area below the Hair burn mezzanine, on or about March 29th, 2023 and times prior thereto: Employees worked with and around corrosive chemicals including, but not limited to, Borron LFG during chemical additions in the hair burn mezzanine area. A total of four 5-gallon buckets of Borron LFG were stored in the mezzanine area without lids potentially exposing employees working below the mezzanine to chemical burn hazards. In addition, various 5 gallon buckets of other non-corrosive chemicals were stored in 5-gallon buckets with no lids. ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION REQUIRED: Abatement certification is required within 10 days after the abatement date noted on the citation (see below). This certification shall include a statement that abatement is complete, the date abatement was completed, method of abatement, and state that employees and their representatives were informed of this abatement.
