29 CFR 1910.132(d)(1):The employer did not assess the workplace to determine if hazards are present, or are likely to be present, which necessitate the use of personal protective equipment (PPE): On or about, October 24, 2023, and prior, the employer did not assess the Jwell single screw extruder machine, to ensure that the correct personal protective equipment was selected. Employees were exposed to thermal burns from hot plastic. The employer did not identify PPE, such as but not limited to, face shields for use when handling high density polyethylene. Abatement documentation is required for this item in accordance with the requirements of 29 CFR 1903.19(d).

29 CFR 1910.1200(h)(1): Employers shall provide employees with effective information and training on hazardous chemicals in their work area at the time of their initial assignment, and whenever a new chemical hazard the employees have not previously been trained about is introduced into their work area. Information and training may be designed to cover categories of hazards (e.g., flammability, carcinogenicity) or specific chemicals. Chemical-specific information must always be available through labels and safety data sheets. On or about October 24, 2023, and prior, employees were exposed to burns while working with chemicals including, but not limited to, King Color Core when the material is heated. Employees were not trained with effective information on the hazards of the chemicals in their work area. Abatement documentation is required for this item in accordance with the requirements of 29 CFR 1903.19(d).
