29 CFR 1926.501(b)(10): Each employee engaged in roofing activities on low-slope roofs, with unprotected sides and edges 6 feet (1.8 m) or more above lower levels, was not protected from falling by guardrail systems, safety net systems, personal fall arrest or a combination of warning line system and guardrail system, warning line system and safety net system, or warning line system and personal fall arrest system, or warning line system and safety monitoring system. Or, on roofs 50-feet (15.25 m) or less in width (see Appendix A to subpart M of this part), the use of a safety monitoring system alone [i.e. without the warning line system] is permitted. a) On or about December 13, 2023, at the above addressed jobsite, employees were not protected from falls above 17 feet while conducting commercial roofing operations exposing employees to fall hazards. Star Roofing and Siding, Inc. was previously cited for a violation of an equivalent occupational safety and health standard 29 CFR 1926.501(b)(13), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1609698, citation number 1, item number 1 and was affirmed as a final order on December 20, 2022, with respect to a workplace located at 1519 N Hudson Ave., Chicago, IL 60610.
