29 CFR 1926.501(b)(1): Each employee on a walking/working surface with an unprotected side or edge which was 6 feet (1.8 m) or more above a lower level was not protected from falling by the use of guardrail systems, safety net systems, or personal fall arrest systems. a- Building 8, Bordentown NJ: The company worksite Foreman was exposed to fall hazards, approximately 27 feet to the ground surface below, when walking and working from a commercial structure's pitched, partially sheathed roof and from its exterior wall top plates while wearing a full body harness that was not connected to an anchor with a lanyard or other approved means. Condition observed on or about 02/08/24. NOTE: IN ADDITION TO ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION, THE EMPLOYER IS REQUIRED TO SUBMIT ABATEMENT DOCUMENTATION FOR THIS ITEM. FAILURE TO COMPLY WILL RESULT IN AN ADDITIONAL PENALTY OF $1000.00 IN ACCORDANCE WITH 29 CFR 1903.19.

29 CFR 1926.502(d)(16): Personal fall arrest systems, when stopping a fall, shall be rigged such that an employee can neither free fall more than 6 feet (1.8 m), nor contact any lower level: a- Building 8, Bordentown NJ: A worker applying sheathing onto the exterior surface of a commercial structure's pitched roof trusses, and performing other related activities, was not protected from falling while wearing a full body harness whose attached lanyard's other end was wrapped around an inner web of a wooden roof truss chord and clipped back to itself. As such, this workers were exposed to fall hazards of approximately 27 feet to the ground surface below. Condition observed and noted on or about 02/08/24. NOTE: IN ADDITION TO ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION, THE EMPLOYER IS REQUIRED TO SUBMIT ABATEMENT DOCUMENTATION FOR THIS ITEM. FAILURE TO COMPLY WILL RESULT IN AN ADDITIONAL PENALTY OF $1000.00 IN ACCORDANCE WITH 29 CFR 1903.19.

29 CFR 1926.503(a)(2): The employer did not assure that each employee exposed to fall hazards was trained by a competent person qualified in the areas specified in 29 CFR 1926.503 (a)(2)(i) through (viii) a - Building 8, Bordentown NJ: A worker and the company worksite Foreman sheathing the pitched roof of a commercial building were not trained on fall protection means and methods as specified in 29 CFR 1926.503(a)(2)(i) through (viii). This worker and worksite Foreman were exposed to fall hazards of approximately 27 feet to the ground surface while either wearing a full body harness that was not attached to an anchor with a lanyard, or other approved means, or when wearing a full body harness whose attached lanyard's other end was wrapped around an inner web of a wooden roof truss chord and clipped back to itself. Condition noted on or about 02/08/24. NOTE: IN ADDITION TO ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION, THE EMPLOYER IS REQUIRED TO SUBMIT ABATEMENT DOCUMENTATION FOR THIS ITEM.
