29 CFR 1910.134(g)(1)(i)(A): The employer shall not permit respirators with tight-fitting facepieces to be worn by employees who have facial hair that comes between the sealing surface of the facepiece and the face or that interferes with valve function: On or about April 10, 2024, at a worksite located on the south bound lanes of U.S. Interstate 41 between mile markers 233 and 232 in Neenah, WI; the employer permitted an employee who was required to wear a tight-fitting facepiece respirator to have facial hair that came between the sealing surface of the facepiece. The employee was exposed to airborne crystalline silica while operating a dowel drilling rig for concrete.
