29 CFR 1910.304(b)(4)(ii)(B):Where connected to a branch circuit supplying two or more receptacles or outlets, a receptacle may not supply a total cord- and plug-connected load in excess of the maximum specified in Table S-4: A) On or about November first, employees working in the hotel kitchen were exposed to a potential fire hazard from, a standard 15 amp power strip that had a Hamilton Beach microwave oven pulling 11 amps of current, and a Georgia Pacific cup sealer that was pulling 11 amps of current through the power strip from a standard 20 am branch circuit. The total current running through the power strip and the branch circuit was 22 amps. Exposure to current over the rated load for the circuit would result in damage to the components increasing the chances of component failure, and fire.
